Airport in Tuscany

There are two major international airports in Tuscany – in Florence and in Pisa.

P.S I love comparing flight deals with flights.google.com and Expedia bundle deals for finding the best flights to Italy.

Pisa Pisa International Airport – or Galileo Galilei Airport – is the biggest in Tuscany. Itโ€™s also the tenth-busiest in Italy, according to annual passenger numbers. Pisa lies close to the Tuscan coast.

Florence International Airport, Peretola, Amerigo Vespucci Airport, or Aeroporto di Firenze, is the other option for passengers traveling to Tuscany. Florence airport is also in the Arno valley, but lies inland, further away from the sea.

Both airports operate flights to and from destinations all over Europe, and beyond. Being the biggest, Pisa offers more choice.

The airports are around 50 miles (or 80 kilometers) apart, and it takes about an hour to drive between the two. As the distance isnโ€™t huge, which to go for may depend on the flights available from your chosen destination.

Itโ€™s also easy to travel between Pisa and Florence by train. Services are regular, and the high-speed trains take only around 50 minutes to transport you between the two cities.

If youโ€™re planning to base yourself in Florence or Pisa, then flying into one may make sense over the other, however. This particularly applies if youโ€™ll be short of time.

When youโ€™re heading to Italy from destinations beyond Europe – such as the US – then there may be no direct flights. However itโ€™s easy to find connections via major hubs, like Rome or Milan, which are the two largest Italian airports.
