Is November a Great Time to Roam in Renaissance’s Heart?

Updated November 2024. I just got back from visiting Florence twice within 2 weeks, and it is incredibly crowded this year! The weather was lovely,, but I was shocked by the crowds. It felt a bit suffocating to be honest especially at Piazzale Michaelangelo,

Well, darlings, let me spill the teaโ€”or should I say, the Italian espresso. November in Florence is the time to visit if you’re into coziness, fewer tourist elbows in your photos, and, of course, autumnal romance that could rival any Hallmark movie.

I have been to Florence in November, and yes, November is undeniably a stellar month to visit not just Florence but Italy as a whole. I have been to Florence in November and even though I get easily cold, I had a great time.

I will cut to the chase! Nighttime temperatures in Florence, Florida, can drop into the 30s, but a warm coat and scarf are more than enough to keep this Floridian gal warm. Evenings are when the Arno River’s wind gusts the most.

Florence’s average temperature in November ranges from a high of 56ยฐF (13ยฐC) to a low of 42ยฐF (5ยฐC). The warmest time of the day is between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m., with highs of 64.4 F (18ยฐC), while at night, temperatures drop to just 9ยฐC.

We also visited Florence in early December and didnโ€™t hit much rain, but it is essential to check the coming weeks of the trip. For 2024, it’s getting high 60’s during the day and low 49’s at night.

I also have a super travel hack to check the weather in Europe truly. Watch the video below.

@fusetravels This is the number one question I get about traveling to Italy is: what should I pack because of the weather the weather to be so unpredictable in Italy and especially in the fall so Iโ€™ve been getting a lot of questions, and I decided to finally spill the beans and share this travel hack, which Iโ€™ve never shared before! #italytravels #italypackingtips #italypackinglist #italyinthefall #tuscany2023 #italytraveltips #italytravel โ™ฌ Con te partirรฒ – Andrea Bocelli

Outdoor Heaters At Restaurants in Florence

One thing I love about Italy, in general, is how much people enjoy being outside, even in the winter. The restaurants and bars also set up outdoor heaters and sometimes even heated floors.

Rock That Italian Autumn Fashion:

Do you think you can get away with your Mickey Mouse hoodie? Think again. Florence is a runway in November, darling.

Italians know how to dress for the season without sacrificing style. Pack layersโ€”cardigans, turtle necks, chic ankle boots, and tailored coats. Add a fashionable scarf, and youโ€™ll turn heads faster than a Vespa in a narrow alley. This year I saw a lot of trench coats as well as wide leg pants. The secret to fashion in Florence in November is layers!

The number of days to spend in Florence in November depends on your interests and the activities you plan to do. Here are some factors to consider based on the search results:

  1. Weather: The weather is moderate, with occasional rain and cool temperatures. So you may want to take your sweet time and enjoy a hot chocolate between visiting landmarks and churches.
  2. Crowds: November is considered the shoulder season in Florence, which means there are fewer crowds and shorter waiting times at most attractions.
  3. Festivals and events: November is a great time to visit Florence if you want to attend cultural events such as the Florence Marathon, Festival dei Popoli, and Lo Schermo dell’Arte.
  4. Sightseeing: Florence has a rich history, beautiful churches, and some of the finest examples of Renaissance art. There are many attractions to visit, so I donโ€™t recommend you cram it all or just spend 2 days in Florence. Also check out planning a trip to Florence on Your Own and How many Days in Florence.

Based on these factors, spending 3-4 days in Florence in November would be a reasonable time to explore the city and its attractions. However, if you have more time, you can consider day trips to nearby areas such as Pisa, Lucca, or Siena.

Truffle Magic at the San Miniato Truffle Fair

Nestled near Pisa (which makes for an excellent day trip from Florence, by the way), the charming town of San Miniato hosts this delightful fair every year, gracing us with truffle goodness during the last three weekends of November.

Picture this: a town transformed into an open-air “laboratory of taste,” where gourmands, experts, and truffle enthusiasts come together to celebrate this earthy delicacy. The streets are lined with stalls offering truffle-infused creations, and you’re invited to savor them all. But that’s not all โ€“ you can even join in on the fun with truffle hunting activities!

Now, let’s talk logistics. If you’re wondering how to make your way to San Miniato, worry not. Even if you don’t have your own wheels, you can hop on a train. Just head over to the TrenItalia website to find the train schedules connecting Florence to this truffle paradise.
