Best time to visit Phuket with kids
Because Phuket has a tropical climate, the entire year is typically warm and muggy. When arranging a trip with children, there are some seasonal considerations to make.
For instance, Phuket experiences its rainy season from May to October, which can bring violent downpours and thunderstorms. Family outdoor activities may become challenging and less enjoyable as a result.
Due to the sunny and comfortable weather, the dry season, which lasts from November to April, is typically regarded as the best time to travel to Phuket with children.
It felt like monsoon season even though we traveled in November because we ended up receiving a lot of rain.
Recommended months for traveling with kids
The dry season, which runs from November to April, is the best time to take children to Phuket. Families are especially encouraged to travel during this time in the months of November, December, and January as the weather is not too hot and there are fewer visitors than during the peak season months of February and March.
The Thai New Year festival (Songkran) in April is another enjoyable time to go because there are lots of entertaining cultural events and kid-friendly water fights.
However, keep in mind that this time of year can be very busy and that lodging and attractions might cost more.
How many days are enough for Phuket?
Depending on the attractions and activities you want to experience, different people have different ideal lengths of stays in Phuket. However, to fully take advantage of Phuket, we advise families to stay for at least 5-7 days.
This will give you a chance to see some of the top sights and unwind at the beach or pool. If you have more time, you could also spend it discovering some of the nearby islands or planning a day trip to one of the nearby locales, like Phang Nga Bay or Krabi.
Where to stay in Phuket With Kids?
Definitely do not stay in Patong Beach. This is like going to Miami during spring break, which is a big no! Our first resort was Angsana, which is surrounded by many other fantastic resorts.
My good friend Tash has stayed at Avista Grande Phuket Resort. Check out her top tips for visiting Phuket with small children. I also like Karon Beach overall. Staying on one of the islands is another option but check that the island is not too far away.

Boat Safety Tips in Phuket With Kids
It would be very hard to visit Phuket and not go on a boat tour. After all, you are on an Island surrounded by lovely islands you can visit. Therefore, it is vital to prioritize safety when picking a boat tour provider and while on the boat.
Water safety starts before getting on the boat. Be careful with ramps at the piers. One of our attendees tripped while going down the ramp and hurt her knee badly. This was a downer as the trip had not started, but she was a champ. Our boat crew had first aid essentials and were super helpful.
Families can take a number of safety measures while traveling to reduce the likelihood of mishaps and injuries. These include always donning life jackets, remaining seated while the boat is underway, steering clear of the edges of the boat, and paying attention to the crew’s instructions.
Additionally, it’s critical to protect yourself from the sun and heat by donning sunscreen, hats, and lightweight clothing, as well as drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated.
Water Safety in Phuket
Even on seemingly calm waters, accidents can occur, so it’s crucial to take safety measures to reduce the risks and guarantee a fun and safe experience for everyone.
Some common risks and hazards on boats include capsizing, collision with other boats or rocks, and injuries from slipping, tripping, or falling. In addition, exposure to the sun and water for extended periods of time can lead to dehydration, sunburn, and heat stroke.
Selecting a reputable and knowledgeable boat tour operator is essential for a safe boat tour experience. Choose tour companies with a solid reputation for safety and raving customer reviews from other families.
Find out if there are life vests, fire extinguishers, or first aid kits on board by asking about the safety gear available. Additionally, confirm that the crew is properly licensed and trained, and that the boat is not overcrowded. Always ask hotel staff for referrals and information as well.
We used Nikorn Marine tours for our boat trips and recommend them.
What to do in case of emergency on a boat trip
Accidents can still occur even when all necessary precautions are taken. Families should be aware of what to do in case of an emergency while out on a boat.
Make sure everyone is aware of where the life jackets are and how to use them. Learn the boat’s emergency procedures, including where the emergency exits are located and how to get in touch with the crew. Follow the crew’s instructions while remaining calm.
Families can take a boat tour in Phuket that is enjoyable and memorable while reducing the likelihood of mishaps and injuries by putting boat safety first.

Things to do in Phuket With Teens
My stepdaughter and I had a great mother-daughter trip to Phuket. Some things that we did and that I recommend
- Get massages together near the beach. Check reviews beforehand. This was a funny experience for us. The undies they gave us to wear were like stocking undies and were way too small for me so they ripped. The massages are so cheap that I regret not getting more.
- Get your hair braided. You will see hair braid options all around. My stepdaughter got purple hair braid locks.
- Do a boat tour. We loved our James Bond Island tour, and we also visited Racha Island. We went snorkeling, and swimming, and enjoyed some Mai Tais as she is old enough to drink there) and took lots of photos.
- Eat. There is a lot of healthy eating in Phuket. I went on a 16-course food lunch with a group for Tbex and it was a very cool experience.
