I am sad the World Cup is coming to an end! I am a very typical Brazilian woman who doesnโ€™t watch soccer till the World Cup hits.

I had not watched this much soccer ever since the 2002 Japan World Cup when Brazil won. I was living in Brazil, and we would wake up in the middle of the night to watch the games. I would sleep over a friendโ€™s house for these late night parties, and some folks would have fireworks firing off at 4 in the morning making our neighbors quite livid. I painted my face for the final and game and cried when Brazil won. Sadly we did not make it to the finals, but the memories created with the 2018 World Cup will remain forever. My boys are now 11 and 13, and they sure will remember this World Cup where I dragged them to places in South Florida to watch the games. I wore my awesome new Brazil Jersey to work and screamed goal during the games. I will cherish these moments for a very long time. My husband ended up going to some other places to watch the games but here are my top 2 South Florida Places to watch the World Cup games.

#1. Veza Sur Brewing Co.

I began following this cool bar on social media and was intrigued by their branding online. I loved their photos and how they had weekly events for locals.  I also saw that they launched a unique beer inspired by the World cup which was super out of the box.  Their Instagram was calling my name and thanks to their social media; I had to experience this cool Miami brewery in person. High five to their social media gal who is doing a fantastic job!   As their Instagram Bio states: โ€œA Miami-born craft brewery with Latin-American roots. Weโ€™re all about great brews and hella good vibes.โ€ As a Latina now living in South Florida,  this was speaking my language. They are located in the Wynwood area of Miami at 55 NW 25th St, Miami, FL 33127.

As per Miami.com: โ€ $2 Brazilian Chops  (pronounced Show-peas). To honor greats of the sport- e.g., Pele, Maradona, Messi, Kaka โ€“ VEZA SUR released El Diez 10, which takes on the classic Belgian Witbier style with subtle touches of coriander, orange peel, and fresh Ruby Red grapefruit.โ€ I loved this beer! And for $2 canโ€™t beat it.

We went for the first Brazil game on fatherโ€™s day, and it did not disappoint. I donโ€™t go to Miami often but my husband was out of town for fatherโ€™s day, and I did not want to stay home. I chose Veza Sur because their marketing elements that captured my eye and heart. First, secondly, they were using a Brazilian name called โ€œchopโ€ which is the mouth-watering cold draft we drink. Secondly, it was only $2 if you wore a Jersey. Brilliant marketing! Thirdly  I saw that they had Fussball and a cool space that I felt was suitable for kids. My one son loves soccer, and the other does not so I wanted to make sure they were both entertained.

They have a hip food truck outside โ€“ The Baja Bao House where you can order some neat snack foods.

The Baja Bao House

Since the 1st Brazil game fell on a Sunday and it was fatherโ€™s day, they decided to surprise us with a Samba group with Brazilian dancers and capoeira. It sure got the crowd going! And of course, as fellow Brazilians, my sister and I felt right at home.

The beers started being quite slow in the end, but I did not mind so much as I was chatting away with some other Brazilians and Brazil had tied. We came back for the next Brazil game and got their early to get good front seats.  Unfortunately, the wait was a bit absurd given the crowd and lack of staff. I also saw it was not the best place if you love to eat and drink a lot during the game, which my husband and friends did, so they disliked the experience. I had a great experience, and I think Veza Sur is on to something super special. They feature local artists, love the locals and have nights where they give back to the community. My vote is for them, and my husbandโ€™s vote is null as he was not able to try out more places.

#2 Bar Da Villa

My second vote goes to a little hidden gem that I also found on Instagram, a Brazilian Bar/Restaurant called Bar the Villa. This bar is a bit hidden as it is between stores. When you arrive, you see a deck and then a tiny bar. We went to check out their Brazilian food ( hello Picanha! ) right after the 1st Brazil game, and I am so glad I did. We did not watch the game here but saw that it was a great option, but you do need reservations since it is very limited seating.

I kept stalking them on the other game days, and they sure have an upbeat beat, and I must try the famous Raclette cheese! You must follow them on Instagram just to watch the magic of then cutting the freshly melted cheese onto the meats and Brazilian foods. They also serve the Brazilian Beer Cerpa as well as nice fold Coronas!

Tip- Use Open Table for reservations and also try the Brazilian Coxinha. I am excited to check out their Pagode ( Samba like ) evenings on Saturday.

My husband also visited Viva Brazil restaurant in Hollywood, Florida but I did not like how they charged per person for a brunch that wasnโ€™t so hot.

For my other World Cup 2018 Memories, follow me on Instagram- SoFlo Biz and catch my story highlights for the World Cup.
