Why Is Paros Famous?

Paros has a rich history in marble production, with its white marble being highly valued. The term “Parian” refers to various products created from this marble, including china. However, Paros is now known primarily as a popular tourist destination.

Thanks to its stunning beaches, crystal clear waters and stunning landscapes, Paros has become one of the go-to vacation destinations in the Mediterranean. Itโ€™s a popular destination among tourists from all over Europe, as well as further afield.

Is Paros a Party Island?

In comparison to Mykonos, which is known as the leading party island in Greece, Paros is a calmer affair. That being said, Paros does have a lively and diverse nightlife.

You’ll find a wide range of options for drinking and dancing. You’ll discover various clubs, including vibrant nightclubs, live music venues, and more chilled-out beach club.

How to Get to Paros

Paros is an easily accessible destination located in the heart of the Cyclades Islands in Greece. It can be reached by plane or ferry.

only served with flights from Athens Airport (ATH). The flight takes about 45 minutes.

The closest international airport to Paros is Naxos Airport (JNX). This offers a wider range of connections. Alternatively, it might be more convenient to fly to the Athens International Airport (ATH). This is serviced by flights from major European and international cities. From ATH, you can then take a ferry or hydrofoil to Paros.

By Ferry: Ferries to Paros leave regularly from Piraeus Port in Athens as well as many other Greek island ports such as Mykonos. Hydrofoils are also available for a faster connection.

During the peak summer months (June – August), itโ€™s worth booking ferry tickets well in advance. This is especially true for longer routes, such as those from Piraeus to Paros. Ferry tickets can be booked online or purchased upon arrival at the port.

If youโ€™re doing an extended road trip around Greece and are travelling with a car, make sure to book your tickets in advance as there are limited places available for vehicles on ferries. Tickets cost extra for cars and motorbikes, so it might be worthwhile travelling as a foot passenger and then renting a vehicle when you arrive on Paros.

Is Paros a Party Island?

Yes, although not as much as Mykonos. Paros is well-known for its vibrant nightlife and party atmosphere. Popular bars and clubs draw crowds of visitors each year to explore the unique music, dancing, and partying scene on this beautiful Greek island.

Along with the many bars and clubs scattered throughout the islands, special events such as full moon parties draw even more visitors looking to experience a truly unforgettable party atmosphere.

Additionally, there’s an extensive calendar of festivals on the island – although mostly celebrating the culture and heritage of the islands, as opposed to music festivals.

What Is the Dress Code for Paros?

Overall, the dress code on the island of Paros is fairly relaxed. Generally, casual and comfortable clothing is accepted. For stylish beach clubs and upscale establishments, you should wear more slightly formal attire such as smart-casual or semi-formal styles may be required.

For men, this could be a lightweight jacket, or linen shirt. For women, we suggest floaty dresses, cocktail dresses, or smart tops with tailored shorts. If you turn up to these clubs in ripped denim shorts and beach wear, you will probably be turned away.

Is Paros Nicer than Naxos?

Paros and Naxos are both stunning Greek islands. They both offer beautiful beaches and plenty of attractions for an unforgettable vacation. Both islands have stunning sandy beaches with crystal clear waters perfect for swimming.

Paros is known for its long stretch of golden sand beaches, while Naxos has a more pristine feel with isolated coves that can be reached only by boat or kayak. When it comes to attractions, both islands offer small villages full of traditional shops and taverns as well as ancient monuments that you can explore on foot.

As for their overall experience, Paros offers a more vibrant atmosphere while Naxos is far quieter and more relaxed with fewer tourists but still spectacularly scenic views.

Essentially, it all depends on your preferences โ€“ if youโ€™re looking to party, have fun nightlife options, and have a buzzy atmosphere then Paros is great; however, if youโ€™re seeking tranquillity then Naxos might be better suited to you. Because they are neighbouring islands, you could potentially spend a bit of time on both.

Thinking of Visiting Paros?

Paros is a stunning Greek island with beautiful beaches and plenty of attractions for an unforgettable vacation.

From its golden sand beaches to small villages full of traditional shops and taverns to the vibrant Paros Beach Clubs, the island offers something for everyone. Whether youโ€™re looking to party or relax in tranquillity, you’ll find it here.

If youโ€™re considering visiting Paros, we highly recommend exploring all that it has to offer โ€“ from its vibrant atmosphere to spectacularly scenic views โ€“ you could even use it as a base for island hopping over to nearby Naxos!
