I ventured to Sorrento in the chillier month of November, and let me tell you, it’s an underrated time to explore this Italian paradise. First off, the absence of bustling crowds is a game-changer. The narrow, winding streets of Sorrento are already a tight squeeze.
But visiting Sorrento in November, you can actually meander without having to dodge selfie sticks or feel like you’re in a can of sardines. It’s you, the cobblestone, and plenty of room to breathe. Ah, the luxury of personal space!
I have visited Sorrento twice in November now, and I love how it’s quaint and quieter, but still full of life with the locals. Also, check out Italy in November.

Is Sorrento in November a Good Time to Visit
Now, let’s talk money—or rather, how you’ll save it. November tends to scare off the summer herd, which is a win for your wallet. Hotels roll out the red carpet with lower prices, and even flights get a budget-friendly makeover. It’s like Black Friday for travel but without the chaos.
But before you start packing, let’s get real about the downsides. The weather can be as unpredictable as a plot twist in a telenovela. One moment you’re basking in a delightful Mediterranean glow, and the next, you’re caught in a surprise rain shower. So yes, the weather plays roulette, and sometimes you’re not on the winning number.
Luckily we had only one day that kind or rained, and the temps were very pleasant during the day.

Unique Things to do in Sorrento in November
Pompeii and Herculaneum, Baby! First off, if you score a day that’s clearer than your intentions of eating your way through Italy, make a beeline for the ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum.
Trust me, navigating through these ancient cities without dodging hoards of tourists is as refreshing as a sip of Limoncello. Ah, the joys of the off-season! We didn’t visit Pompeii the first time visiting Sorrento in November, but now this time I make sure we ventured out. It was an easy train ride away and we also visited a great winery there. Find Pompeii Tickets.
Amalfi Coast Shenanigans: This is a good day trip if you go in Early November. You can take a bus by the train station, but be ware that it’s a scary road trip so if you are afraid of heights I would opt for boat.
Day trips to Capri: Yes, please! It’s you, the hills, and the ocean—kinda like a Nicholas Sparks novel, but without the tears. Well, my husband is afraid of heights, so he almost shed a tear when we went up Ana Capri. On our second trip in November we didn’t opt to visit Positano as we we were told it was pretty dead there.
Feast of St. Martin: The Feast of St. Martin in November is like Italy’s version of Thanksgiving but with better wine. A cultural plunge with a side of deliciousness. Sorrento also has local events so check the calendar when you go.
Pre-Christmas Vibes: Sorrento starts its Christmas prep early, and by early, I mean November. Piazza Tasso gets its bling on with a musical tree and festoons. It’s like the town’s giving you a sneak peek into the holiday season.
Food Galore: Speaking of deliciousness, the local eateries are serving up more than just looks. Fresh seafood, anyone? And let’s not even get started on the Limoncello; let’s just say it’s nectar from the Italian gods.
Retail Therapy, Sorrento-Style: The shops in the historic center are as inviting as an Italian nonna who insists you must eat more. From ceramics to leather goods, and yes, more Limoncello—you’ll find souvenirs that are miles better than a fridge magnet.
