A trip to Europe can be just as enlightening for teens as it is for adults. You may be surprised to find that they share many of the same interests including art, music, history, sports, and food. But a holiday away from school should be fun, so the trick is to choose engaging and entertaining activities. Here’s how to tailor your trip to teens in these popular European destinations.

Berlin

Bring a history lesson to life with a visit to the East Side Gallery and the Berlin Wall Memorial. Tagged with fascinating graffiti, remnants of the wall will echo with President Ronald Reagan’s “Tear Down This Wall” speech. Plenty of hands-on activities will keep teens engaged.

For teens who love adrenaline-pumping fun, head to the Berlin Sky Jump at Alexanderplatz. Hosted by the Park Royal Hotel, the 125-meter high thrill is part Bungee jumping and part abseiling, a form of repelling. After thorough safety instructions, they’ll get strapped in for a head-first dive toward the Alexanderplatz below.

Teens who love computer games will enjoy a visit to the Computerspielemuseum, a computer game museum where they can play many of the games on display. Afterward, take them to climb the Berlin TV Tower at sunset for city views that will impress even the most discerning teens.

Barcelona

Wonderfully vibrant, Barcelona will leave any teen awe-stricken as they stroll through quirky Park Güell on Carmel Hill, a large green space featuring gardens and architectural elements.

Even the most aloof teens will snap Instagram photos with plenty of enthusiasm at La Sagrada Família, a gargantuan basilica begun by Antonio Gaudí’in 1882 and still under construction. And sports-minded teens will love a stop by FC Barcelona football club at Camp Nou, a club with pros that compete in La Liga, Spain’s top-flight football.

Best of all in Barcelona is the thrilling rides and panoramic views at Tibidabo Amusement Park, one of the world’s oldest still-functioning amusement parks.

Rome

Full of style, fascinating history, and incredible food, Rome is a city where teens can combine fun and hands-on learning. They’ll be thrilled to explore the Colosseum and have a gladiator training session to learn about the ways of Roman warriors. Let them take selfies at Trevi Fountain and then go underground to marvel at over 60 catacombs below the city that spans hundreds of kilometers.

Teens are notorious lovers of pizza, so book an authentic pizza-making class where they’ll happily toss pizza dough in the air like a local chef. Don’t skip having a cappuccino in a cafe or a gelato while wandering among fountains and statues in Europe’s open-air museum called Rome.

London

London is a destination filled with some of the world’s most emblematic places that teens won’t want to miss. Take them to see the changing of the guards with their famous red coats and bearskin hats as they march to the band in an unforgettable traditional ceremony.

They’ll enjoy taking selfies by the advertising screens at Piccadilly Circus and strolling across the famous pedestrian crossing at Abbey Road like the Beatles did.

No teen could ever get bored with a visit to Europe’s beautiful Tate Modern. And riding high above the city on the London Eye will be the thrill of any teen’s lifetime.

Be sure to let them see their favorite childhood hero Harry Potter behind the scene with a tour of Warner Brothers Studio and try to spot celebrities in the streets of Notting Hill.

Split, Croatia

Teen-friendly Split is a vibrant city in Croatia with dozens of fun activities such as the two-hour Game of Thrones Tour where they get to see the various filming locations of the popular Netflix series.

Let them have lots of fun and burn off energy with a stand-up paddleboard tour of this beautiful city and then go on a pirate cruise aboard a replica of Christopher Columbus’s boat while you sip cocktails at one of Split’s best hotels.

Finish the day with a Culinary Tour of delicious, healthy Mediterranean food.
